Muifield to cash in from hosting the Open
The venue for this year’s Open Championship has created a corporate events package to maximise revenue opportunities from hosting the world-famous event.
Muirfield is offering businesses the opportunity to host events at the club on the day before the Open starts.
Called ‘The Open Hospitality’ and priced ‘subject to requirements’, companies can hire private facilities that can cater for up to 300 guests by the course’s ninth hole on Wednesday, July 17. That day is the practice day, when all the competing golfers are likely to play a round.
Brett Tonkyn, director of sales for The Open Hospitality, said: “We are very excited to launch this unique meetings and conference package and can confidently say that nowhere else in Scotland will delegates be able to watch world class sporting action while conducting an AGM.
“The Open Hospitality has a series of packages which offer the best in fine dining and hospitality and can be tailored to suit the individual needs of an event.
“Beyond that is the chance to savour the drama of live sporting action, build relationships and enjoy award winning food and drink all at the same time.
“We all know how important it is to make the right impression with your guests, whether they be new or existing clients, or even your own staff, and what better way to make this impression than alongside some of golf’s greatest stars?”
Muirfield, which is a single sex golf club, has been at the centre of a row involving two government ministers over whether clubs that do not allow women to join should host the Open.
