Golf Power List: 10-1
26th July, 2012 by admin10. Barney Francis, Sky Sports managing director
Print media and the internet are powerful forms of media, but nothing beats television.
Many golf club managers bemoan the loss of several big golf events from terrestrial television to Sky, but for those who do not subscribe to Sky Sports, it has never been easier than today to find a friend, relative or public location that does.
And there is more golf on Sky than there ever was on the BBC. From the world’s biggest golfing event, the Ryder Cup, to specialist championships such as the Disabled British Open, the broadcaster, which has five core sports channels, regularly provides the coverage the industry needs to showcase the game.
Barney, who’s been managing director since 2009, has ensured no let-up in the coverage, even though his own broadcasting background was football and cricket.
