County partnership to fund free lessons
14th February, 2012 by Colin Victor
Alnwick Castle Golf Club in Northumberland is to offer free golf lessons thanks to funding from its local county golf partnership.
Northumberland County Golf Partnership will provide the financial support to the club’s PGA professional Peter Ritchie, to teach anyone over the age of 16 a six-week course. The only stipulation is that they are not a member of any golf club.
Lisa Ferrie, county development officer for the Northumberland County Golf Partnership, said: “The gym isn’t for everyone, but if your new year’s resolution was to get fit or try something new, why not try golf?
“This scheme means you can try it completely free; all equipment will be provided. It is a fantastic opportunity for people to try a new sport or get back into a sport they used to enjoy and got out of the habit of playing.”
The one-hour sessions start on Saturday, February 25 at 3pm, and there is no dress code. To book a place, call 01665 602632.
Northumberland County Golf Partnership is one of 32 in the country, all funded by Sport England.
