Woburn murder suspect appears in court
8th December, 2011 by Colin Victor
A man charged with the murder of a teenager whose body was found at Woburn Golf Club in 2000 has appeared in court.
Shahidul Ahmed, 40, from Bletchley, appeared at Milton Keynes Magistrates’ Court and was remanded in custody. He will next appear at Luton Crown Court on December 14.
Two people have previously served sentences in relation to the death of Rachel Manning, 19. Her fiancé served six years in jail for her murder while another man served two and a half for perverting the course of justice. Both had their convictions quashed. In the original trial in 2002, the defence said the evidence against the fiancé was unreliable and it was more likely that a man who worked at the golf club had carried out the murder.
Rachel’s body was found by a man walking his dog in undergrowth at the golf course.
