West Hill Golf Club in Surrey has donated more than £7,000 to Princess Alice Hospice in Esher, following a charity golf day at the club earlier this month.
More than 100 golfers representing 27 teams from across Surrey took part in the event, which also included an auction featuring prizes such as a day for 12 on a super yacht, a rugby ball signed by the England squad and luxury hampers.
The hospice provides end of life care to adult patients and support to their families and friends across Surrey, south west London and Middlesex.
Hospice community fundraiser Ashleigh Perfett said: “We need to raise in excess of £7 million each year so that the hospice can provide all of its services free of charge to the local community.
“The money raised from this wonderful golf day could fund 73 visits from a community Princess Alice nurse to a patient in their own home or alternatively it could fund 36 attendances at the day hospice, where patients receive clinical support, therapies and great social interaction.”
West Hill Golf Club has held various charity events in recent months. In October the Guildford Country Club had a fundraising day at the club in aid of Guildford Undetected Tumour Screening (GUTS) and the same organisation held a similar day in 2010 for Cranleigh Riding for the Disabled Association Group.
