Groupon sees 100 per cent rise in golf deals

25th November, 2011 by Alistair Dunsmuir

The ‘deal-of-the-day’ website, Groupon, has revealed that it is processing twice as many deals for British golf clubs than it was just one year ago.

“This year has seen twice as many golf deals compared to 2010 and we now feature 300 partners associated with golf,” said a spokeswoman. “There are three main types of golf deals which have been successful on the Groupon platform, namely rounds of golf, hotel and golf packages, and golf tutorial sessions, but we have also featured golf equipment, indoor mini golf and driving range passes.”

The spokeswoman said that response rates depend on the size and reputation of the club and whether it’s a club, hotel or resort. “Location also plays a big part as well as the weather conditions at the time the deal is featured,” she added. “Almost half of all the golf clubs that have used us half have featured more than one deal. In terms of golf deals, which tend to be local as opposed to national, a deal’s exposure would be dependent on the number of subscribers for the relevant city.”
