Chorley golf club to employ 20 more people

Oak Royal Golf and Country Club in Chorley has been granted planning permission to build a 26-room hotel employing 20 people.
Work will begin before the end of the year on the £1 million three-storey project, which will see the existing clubhouse, built in 2007, extensively expanded. The project will take two years to complete.
A spokesman said: “There will be restaurant and conference facilities as well as the added attraction of our nine-hole golf course which continues to buck the national trend of declining memberships.
“The greens are USGA standard which means they are playable throughout the year so we expect our hotel guests to take advantage of our stay-and-play packages.
“We are anticipating a mixture of business people, weekend breakers and groups using our function suites for weddings and such like.”
