More than 200 golf clubs sign up to Golf 4 Heroes

More than 200 golf clubs around Europe have signed up for the new Golf 4 Heroes project.

The scheme, which sees each member venue pledge two complimentary green fees per week for Golf 4 Heroes members – people who have fought in Afghanistan for the British Armed Forces – has now had the likes of Goodwood, Sundridge Park, Burhill and St Enedoc golf clubs signed up to it.

The project, formed by Your Golf Travel.com in association with Battleback, a tri-service initiative which uses sport to aid the rehabilitation of wounded personnel, is also backed by world number two golfer Lee Westwood.

“It’s fantastic that so many injured servicemen across the country can now benefit from the scheme on a grand scale. Giving just two tee-times a week really does make a huge difference,” said a spokesman.

“We are delighted that it has received such a warm response from the industry and we’re certain that there are plenty more who will sign up to this great cause. I’m positive there are big things to come.”
